Three Michigan entrepreneurs will visit Central Michigan University to speak at the inaugural Motivated Mitten event on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in Plachta Auditorium to encourage students to follow their dreams and persevere.
The Motivated Mitten is a new speaker series designed to cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit in the state. It aims to give students a look at successful entrepreneurs in Michigan and to showcase the opportunities available to those who work hard and stay motivated.
The event will feature three successful entrepreneurs, including Sheldon Yellen, CEO of BELFOR Property Restoration, who was featured on the CBS series “Undercover Boss.” Yellen grew up in Detroit and will share the story of his journey to CEO of a $1.5 billion property restoration company with the motto “Do the right thing, even when no one is watching.”
Roland Coit, the co-owner of Burn Rubber, a sneaker and street-wear boutique founded in 2007, will also speak. He and his partner recently led an expansion to the Burn Rubber Midwest Lifestyle brand.
Jeff Wegner, a CMU alum who created Movement Creative Media, will also be speaking. Wegner builds digital asset libraries using social content campaigns. He received top placement at the New Venture Competition while at CMU and his work has been featured by Adobe.
The Motivated Mitten is sponsored by Central Michigan Life, CMU New Venture Competition, HUB University and the CMU Research Corporation.
The event is free to students, faculty and the public.
