MY “AHA” MOMENT
There was never a goal to design this device. Nor, initiate the concept that sprung up because of it. It was a stop gap measure designed to keep another concept moving towards completion. Over time, the realization grew that this simple device was vastly more important than the project that spawned it. From that point on, focus shifted to the Combustion Operated Impulse Drive Unit, and after a few years of building and testing, an application for a patent was filed. So, I guess the “Aha Moment”, would be realizing what to focus on.
THE BIG IDEA
Internal combustion engine inefficiencies was the motivating force behind the invention of the Combustion Operated Impulse Drive Unit. And though the Drive Unit is not an engine, it does allow for better management of the combustion event, a long time stumbling block to improved efficiencies. WHY MY IDEA IS BETTER THAN THE REST
Simplicity is a strong suit of the Combustion Operated Impulse Drive unit. It is a concept that should be both easy to understand, and easy to apply. Component optimization is another. Each component used to support or benefit from the Combustion Operated Impulse Drive Unit can be optimized to do its part better.
THE SKY’S THE LIMIT
The funding will cover two developmental goals. The first goal will be to have an independent review of the concept and the mathematical model supporting the concept. The other goal would be to develop a more comprehensive test platform with the aim to determine how predictive of performance the mathematical model is, as well as obtaining certain critical performance parameters.
