MY “AHA” MOMENT:
For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in how things work, whether it was a blender or an internal combustion engine. Naturally, this curiosity grew into a hobby, then a career in the engineering field. Over the last few years the use of visual inspection systems have really taken off in large scale manufacturing. These vision systems are much more accurate than their human counterpart, and they don't need breaks.
THE BIG IDEA:
Visual inspection systems use one or more cameras to check for one or more features or parts on an item. Right now there are quite a few visual inspection systems on the market, but not many that are module. The two biggest options on the market are a robotic arm with a camera mounted, or a dedicated fixture with stationary cameras. There are a couple things that are impractical with these solutions. Both of these solutions are rather expensive and the robotic arm has a relatively slow index time.
WHY MY IDEA IS BETTER THAN THE REST:
My vision system has faster index times than a robotic vision system so it can inspect more parts per hour. It is also cheaper than tooling multiple parts with a dedicated vision systems. So not only will this machine cost less, my vision system is also incredibly module.
THE SKY’S THE LIMIT:
I would like to use the funds raised to start processing a patent, or to build a production intent prototype.
