Two new vendors are celebrating grand openings at SVRC Marketplace, just in time for summer.
Kona Ice of Saginaw, a food truck, and Put A Fork In Me are each hosting grand opening events at the marketplace Friday, May 10.
Kona Ice of Saginaw will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:45 a.m. in the parking lot at SVRC Marketplace, 203 S. Washington Ave., and offer free cups of shaved ice from noon until 1 p.m.
Kona Ice of Saginaw is scheduled to appear at more than 70 events this summer and owners Skyler and Amanda Walker have pledged to donate a percentage of the proceeds from its stops to local school groups, teams and community organizations, according to a news release.
“It’s an opportunity to enjoy a unique, tropical treat,” Amanda Walker said in a statement. “For a few dollars you can experience the excitement of the truck, flavor your own Kona Ice, donate to an organization you care about and kick back for a few minutes enjoying the sounds of the tropics. It’s an escape that everyone can enjoy.”
Also celebrating its grand opening Friday is Put A Fork In Me.
Put A Fork In Me will join the mix of indoor marketplace tenants, offering “salad jars,” fried chicken with homemade sauces, burgers, lemon garlic surf 'n' turf fries, chicken Parmesan fries and more, according to a Facebook event page.
SVRC Marketplace is located at 203 S. Washington Ave. in downtown Saginaw. Market vendors include Sushi Remix, Blending Bowl, Delicious Sweets Bakeshop, Falafel Hut & Middle Eastern Cuisine, Saigon Sandwich, Whyte’s Fishery, Makin’ Bacon, Rebecca’s Gourmet Bakery, The Little Yarn Shoppe and Flowers by Roman, among others.
