BAY AREA "PITCH" COMPETITION - Press Release
June 11, 2019

Bay Area “Pitch” Competition
Calling all entrepreneurs

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich., June 11, 2019 –. Early-stage businesses will have the opportunity to win over $25,000 in cash and prizes to further their business on Nov. 12 at the 2019 Bay Area Pitch a Dream competition.

Last year, over 40 entrepreneurs brought forth innovative, high-tech ideas and fierce competition. Those 40 were narrowed down to ten finalists who pitched their dreams to a panelist of judges at the Bay City State Theatre.

The purpose of this competition is to assist entrepreneurs in building a viable, sustainable business. Previous year’s winners have gone on to do just that. Luke Lloyd, creator of Dribble Stick Training, found a local manufacturer for his product and is launching a new ecommerce site, resulting in the indirect creation of jobs around Michigan. Mike Schuette with GCI Water Solutions won $7,500, which helped is company get to over $250k in revenue within the past year.

To be a strong competitor in the Pitch A Dream competition, contestants must complete a consolidated version of CMURC’s Right Choice Program. New this year to the Phase One deliverables is a crowd-funding raise, giving entrepreneurs the chance to raise $1,000 by August 19. The first three contestants to complete this raise will receive a $500 match. Before the competition even begins, contestants will have funds to kickstart their business or work with local service providers.

With nearly twenty years of experience in the business development sector, CMURC will be available to all contestants to help announce their product and/or business to the public.

Once all phases and deliverables are complete and have met the required deadlines, contestants will have a quality, five-page executive summary and investor pitch.

Early-stage companies with a principal location in Bay County or willing to relocate to Bay County are eligible to sign up and pitch their dreams. Kick-off meetings will take place at CMURC Uptown Bay City on June 27, July 15, August 6 and August 8.
