Bluemer Farms of Blanchard is putting together a dinner series that will provide the community not only with a locally sourced and produced meal, but education about the farm itself.
The first installment of the "Bluemer Farms Dinner Series" will be hosted at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7 at Central Michigan University Research Corporation, located on Denison Drive.
Dinner will be beef brisket with salad and sides prepared by Phat Matt’s Cafe and Food Trailer, using meat from Bluemer Farms.
Eight of the 16 seats are still available and tickets can be purchased online for $30 each or two for $50.
Jeff Bluemer, who owns and operates Bluemer Farms with his father, wanted to create an event that would bring customers closer to the products and build loyalty with his customers.
“It provides people with the opportunity to learn who we are, try our product, learn about food production and get a feel for what the local producers are doing to put food on their table,” Bluemer said about the dinner series.
In addition to a farm-to-table meal, guests will be provided with tidbits of information that include how to select a good cut of steak, what grass-fed means and the definition of conventional meat.
“We’re trying to keep it to a minimum,” Bluemer said. “No one wants to go to dinner and be lectured for an hour, but (we will) just have little tidbits of info in the center piece.”
If all goes well, Bluemer said he is hoping to continue the series, bringing the dinners out to the farm as it gets warmer. Each dinner would utilize a local food truck, or chef, and Bluemer meats.
Meat and Bluemer products will also be available to purchase at the event.
Bluemer Farms is all about building a relationship and loyalty with the customer, Bluemer said.
“Our focus is in sustainability, high quality products, honesty of what that product is and to be able to provide people with a good, honest set of meat that they can provide to their family,” he said about the farm.
Bluemer Farms is located at 4753 W. Blanchard Road. For more information about the dinner series, visit the event page on Facebook or call Jeff Bluemer at (989)506-2267.
