The Central Michigan University board of trustees appoints two dynamic community leaders to the Central Michigan University Research Corporation’s (CMURC) board of directors. CMURC welcomes Jim Holton and Paul Murray, CPA, ABV, CFF as they join the board led by chairman Dr. George Ross, president of CMU.

Erin O’Brien, president and CEO of CMURC says, “CMURC is honored to welcome Mr. Holton and Mr. Murray as new board members. Each one provides expert perspectives and experiences as well as an outstanding entrepreneurial spirit that will enhance the efforts of CMURC to serve the community. We are so pleased these exceptional leaders will offer their guidance and leadership.”

The new members add a remarkable extent of professional experience, financial expertise and energy to the CMURC board:

Jim Holton, Owner of Mountain Town Brewing Company
Jim Holton is a local entrepreneur whose knowledge of the industry is vital to the CMURC board. Holton’s current businesses include Mountain Town Station Brewing Co & Steakhouse and Mt. Pleasant Brewing Co. Holton also has a limitless amount of community involvement such as being elected as mayor of the City of Mt. Pleasant in 2009-2010, president of the Mt. Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and member of the Mt. Pleasant City Commission.

Holton says, “There is a buzz around CMURC in the industry, and it is uniquely positioned with the opportunity to be truly transformative within the entrepreneurial community. I look forward to working with the company’s talented board of directors and executive team as we begin this exciting new journey.”

Paul Murray, CPA, ABV, CFF
Paul Murray offers a wealth of financial knowledge from his experience in service, non-profit and retail industries. In 1973 he joined the firm of Robert F. Murray & Company where he currently serves as the firm’s managing shareholder. Murray’s primary focus with the firm is in the areas of business valuation, merger and acquisition, litigation support, estate planning and advanced tax planning for individuals and business. Other valuable experiences Murray offers CMURC includes being a founding member and treasurer of the Blue Water Angels, commissioners advisory group for the Michigan Department of Treasury and past president and chair for Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce.

Murray says, “I am honored to join the CMURC board and work with this exceptional team. CMURC is a leader across the entire economic development community, and has strong momentum to transform the opportunities available for entrepreneurs. I look forward to sharing my experiences and contributing to the future direction and growth of this state wide leader.”
