Central Michigan University Board of Trustees approved the appointment of a new member to the Central Michigan University Research Corporation Board of Directors.
Dow Director of State Government Affairs, Jeff Stoutenburg, will be the newest member to join the board in 2019.
Stoutenburg joins the Board of Directors with many years of experience in government affairs under his belt. He joined Dow in 2014 and serves as the primary contact for legislative and political engagements in the Midwest and Northeast regions. In addition to this role, he also heads Dow’s U.S. government affairs communication efforts, which includes internal and external political communications. Prior to Dow, Stoutenburg worked as a legislative analyst for the House Fiscal Agency in Lansing.
“CMU has always been committed to advancing the Great Lakes Bay Region,” said Central Michigan University President Bob Davies. “With CMURC’s expansion to Midland, it was imperative to secure representation from one of the largest industry partners in the region.”
In accordance with CMURC’s By-Laws, the board is comprised of public sector directors and CMU administrators or trustees. Along with Stoutenburg, CMU College of Business Dean Chris Moberg and President & CEO of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce Trustee Richard Studley were appointed to the board in 2019.
Moberg brought with him years of experience in business and higher education. From being the director of external relations for the Schey Sales Centre to serving as the associate dean of academic programs at Ohio University, he has been at the forefront of education for young entrepreneurs.
Studley has worked for the Michigan Chamber of Commerce since 1981 and was appointed to President & CEO in 2008. Through his tenure, Studley has built a powerful and influential business voice in the heart of Michigan.
The three will join 12 fellow board members including the re-appointed CMU Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services Barrie Wilkes, CMU Interim Senior Vice Provost Ian Davison, Executive Director of Nexteer Automotive Daniel Dralle, and Glastender Vi of Administration Kimberly Norris.
