As summer rolls out, so will the food trucks for Food Truck Friday.
Food Truck Friday will commence on June 7 with a wide variety of option from across the Great Lakes Bay Region, according to a news release sent out by the Central Michigan University Research Corporation. The weekly event will come to an end on Aug. 23.
The trucks will be in the front parking lot of the CMURC from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., located at 2625 Denison Drive in Mt. Pleasant. Each week, eight food trucks will be featured at the CMURC building, with two extra spots reserved for local food trucks.
Customers will be able to vote for which food truck they like the most each week. The truck that gets the most votes will be that week’s Food Truck Friday Champion. All of the winners will be invited back at the final week to determine who will be crowned the 2019 CMURC Favorite Food Truck.
This year’s lineup of trucks include:
• Cruisin’ Chef
• Twin Turbo BBQ
• Grub Hubb LLC
• 3 Lil Pig’s BBQ and Catering
• Ignite Donuts
• Wells Wanderlust
• The Patty Wagon
• LumberJill Concessions
• Central Fusion
• DW’s Street Eatery
• Nate’s Cart
• John Reynolds Catering “Who Doesn’t Like Pizza?”
• Phat Matt’s Food Trailer
• Fire and Rice
• AT Concessions
• Greentree Grocery and Deli.
In addition to the food trucks, there will also be a product showcase that has local entrepreneurs display their limited-run, first-edition products from the CMURC Right Choice accelerator program, according to the release. Some of the products include Theramazing’s therapeutic weighted cap and Dribble Stick Training’s basketball training system.
The goal of Food Truck Friday is to promote local entrepreneurs and allow the community to grow through commerce, according to the release. Last year, 26 vendors generated $64,250 during a 14-week period. The weekly event brought 11 new vendors to the area and more than 5,500 customers.
