Teresa Rupert has been named interim president and CEO of the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber directors approved the appointment - to succeed the departing Brett Hyble - late last month and she assumed her new duties last week.
“On behalf of the board of directors and our members, we are pleased to have Teresa serve as the interim President/CEO,” said Erik Rodriguez, interim public relations director of the Saginaw Indian Tribe and future chair of the Board of Directors. “Rupert has great history with the chamber and will be able to provide the leadership and experience the chamber needs during this transition.”
Rupert started her tenure with the chamber as an ambassador in 2013 and joined the board in 2015. She took on the role of secretary, treasurer and chair for the board in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Rupert has been active in the community and is the running force behind the annual awards banquet, golf outing and this year’s newest installment, the Corporate Cup.
“I am excited to work with the amazing team here at the Chamber,” exclaimed Rupert. “We are gearing up for all of the events we have in October, with the upcoming Business After Hours on October 16 and the Economic Outlook Luncheon on October 24.”
Hyble, who had led the chamber since 2013, left for a position with Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works and said last month he'd be leaving in late October.
The search is underway for a president/CEO of the chamber.
