The SVRC Marketplace building in downtown Saginaw will be bustling with events on Saturday, July 27.
The market building, 203 S. Washington Ave., houses over 40 businesses including eateries and craft vendors and the Saginaw Farmer’s Market is located outside.
The 100,000-square-foot building, which was constructed in the late-1950s and served as the home of The Saginaw News, features two incubator kitchens, food storage and preparation areas available to vendors.
Along with all of the vendors being open on Saturday, below is a list of other events occurring in and around the building.
The Children’s Business Fair is taking place in the lower level press room from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Youths will showcase their businesses, products and services, all which will be available for purchase.
The event is organized by the Kids Rule Now organization.
At 10 a.m. on the second-floor ballroom, Ascension Senta’s Spirit Mind and Body Expo will host and event where there will be spiritual healings, psychic readings, yoga and belly dancing.
From 7-10 p.m. there will be a Tri-Cities Creative Showcase, organized by Dacia Mackey. The showcase will feature the talents of local singers, rappers, musicians, bands and fashion designers.
The event is taking place in the atrium.
Tickets to the event cost $10 and include wine, nacho/taco bar and cake pops.
The Saginaw County Football Media with MLive will kickoff at 10:45 a.m. with teams from throughout the county. There will be food, autographs, pictures and games.
Director of the SVRC Marketplace Rachel Trumble said she is excited about Saturday’s events.
“We not only support small businesses inside the Marketplace, but we are also here to support any entrepreneur and small business in the community,” Trumble said.
In addition to events being held in Marketplace spaces on Saturday, the Central Michigan University Research Corporation, or CMURC, a shared co-working space that occupies the second floor of the building, also is hosting an event.
Money and Mimosas Brunch, an educational networking event for women seeking to learn about starting and or operating a business.
The brunch will feature food and mimosas and runs 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is organized by Latrice Goodwine, author of financial literacy book Girl What’s In Your P.U.R.S.E.?
Guest speaker will be Reejade Richmond, a business and legal strategist.
The event takes place in the CMURC Saginaw Boardroom.
