Self Love Beauty receives $9,900 grant to support family programs
Self Love Beauty (SLB) received a $9,900 grant from the Bay Area Community Foundation (BACF) and Midland Area Community Foundation (MACF) Hemlock Semiconductor Donor Advised-Fund to help support SLB’s family programs flourish in a way that will benefit families around the Great Lakes Bay Region.
SLB’s family programs started in 2019 to help build these strong relationships in families. Each program is tailored to either a mother/daughter, father/daughter or mother/son relationship (or with a parenting adult/mentor) and provides families with a sense of support. The programs improve family dynamics in order to create two-way experiences and commitments, encouragement, increase confidence, and more.
Each program has a confidence, connection, community and hands-on STEM activities provide each family multiple ways to come together.
“We are grateful to the Hemlock Semiconductor CARE committee, the Bay Area Community Foundation and Midland Area Community Foundation for their support,” said Lisa Thompson, executive director of Self Love Beauty. “Research shows that when children have a strong relationship with their parents, they will grow up to be responsible, and great role models. This is exactly why we created these programs and we are grateful to have the funding to provide them to our community.”
This grant was distributed by the MACF and BACF. The MACF provides philanthropic leadership to strengthen our community by fostering collaboration and giving today and in the future. The BACF is a leader in identifying current and emerging issues, stimulating local resources to address those needs, and helping the region prepare for the future.
SLB’s family programs start on May 11 with their father/daughter program, and end in November. More details will be published on their website at www.selflovebeauty.com and on social media platforms @selflovebeauty
