The CMURC entrepreneurial ecosystem in Mt. Pleasant will escalate soon, as the remodeling of the RC coworking space and business accelerator begins in November. The CMURC Mt. Pleasant facility located in the SmartZone District will be closed throughout the renovations, from October 31, 2023 through completion, estimated summer 2024.
What’s Happening: In May 2023, Central Michigan University announced a Request for Proposal seeking construction services to renovate CMURC Mt. Pleasant, and a bid has been accepted. Renovations are planned to begin at the start of November.
“As we prepare for construction, we’ve been working to refine our cowork memberships and solutions to better fit the dynamic needs of entrepreneurs, professionals and corporations in the region,” shares CMURC president and CEO, Erin Strang. “The new offerings are designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and productivity, further solidifying CMURC's position as a leading hub for business.”

Who Is Involved: Denali Construction was awarded the RFP. Investments have been committed by the Economic Development Administration, the Consumers Energy Foundation, the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation, and Integrated Database Systems. CMURC shares the capital campaign is 75% complete to date, with a continued focus on securing the remaining funding from industry partners.

What’s Next: CMURC Mt. Pleasant will officially be closed for renovations on October 31, 2023. They anticipate the construction will be completed by summer 2024, with a grand opening and ribbon cutting to follow.
