MLIVE - A documentary series following the saga of over 50 models from a Saginaw modeling agency is set to premiere this weekend.
The first season of the Beauty in Me series will premiere at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 at a special screening at 801 Joe Mann Boulevard in CMURC Midland. Tickets to the premiere are $15 each and can be purchased online.
Beauty in Me isn’t a typical, run-of-the-mill modeling agency. The Saginaw-based agency focuses on the beauty that is inside.
“What we do is we focus on self-love,” said founder Donald Bivens. “So within season one, our mission is for Beauty in Me to captivate and empower people while inspiring the world with internal beauty.”
“Our focus is self-love, and focusing on you as an individual,” he added.
The series is reminiscent of popular America’s Next Top Model series. The models will be shown going through different trials and challenges. But the focus is personal growth and self-love.
“It’s just different challenges to make them grow within the series,” Bivens said.
Bivens said that one of the challenges shows when the models headed off to what they thought was practice but it instead turned out to be an on-the-spot private fashion show.
Bivens explained that he started Beauty in Me nearly seven years ago for his wife Brittney Bivens and his then 7-month-old daughter. Seven years later, Beauty in Me has grown.
“I started it for them and it ended up being bigger than that,” he said.
He said that Beauty in Me has been to high-profile events such as New York Fashion Week and LA Fashion Week as well as having met contestants from America’s Next Top Models. The company has trained over 300 models in the last seven years, Bivens said.
